HISTORY

The Hispanic Service Center(HSC) was founded in 1972 in the city of Imlay City, Michigan. The purpose of the center was to provide social services to the growing needs of the Spanish speaking Latino migrant and seasonal farmworkers.  Over the last four decades, the center has evolved from an agency helping only the Hispanic people to an agency providing help to the entire community.

Today HSC welcomes all the members of the community regardless of race or ethnic origin. HSC is multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multi-lingual, and multi-generational, with a focus on serving the needs of vulnerable populations.

HSC provides a broad range of programs, events, and services which contribute to an active and informed community as well as an inclusive, neighborhood center that reaches outside the Imlay City area to serve Lapeer County residents in need of our services.

HSC is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization. We are also a partner agency of the Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA) with additional funding from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) and the Salvation Army.
